The Wolf (lat. Lupus) is an inconspicuous constellation of the southern hemisphere. Only the stars α, β, and γ Lupi are brighter than the third magnitude. Kappa Lupi is a binary star.
How to spot Lupus
In antiquity, the constellation was associated with the creature UR-IDIM, whose head and body were human, but the legs of a lion. Lupus belongs to the 48 constellations of antiquity, which were described by Ptolemy. Due to the precessional movement of the Earth, the constellation has moved further south.
