The ruling planet for Aries is the red planet Mars, which corresponds with the fire element. As such, it has a leadership personality, like Leo and Sagittarius – although it does not only convince others with its skills, but also with its active involvement in projects.
Aries is both a leader and a fighter. It is ambitious, courageous, strong-willed, and helpful. There’s no stopping an Aries, as its own dynamism continues to drive it forward. In a daring and tempestuous fashion, Aries seems to stop for nothing and nobody. For an Aries, discovering new things and wild adventures are usually top priority, rather than stability. As such, it can become moody and impatient, sometimes even aggressive. Overall, it is generally uncomplicated and not confused by emotions. You should accept an Aries as it is, as it's not going to change; it is much too convinced of itself for that.
Aries needs a partner with particularly strong nerves, as it hasn't much room for sensitivity. As such, Aries will get on better with the signs of the Zodiac Leo, Sagittarius, Aquarius and Gemini.
Like Aries, Leo also has a strong leadership personality. They both share a need for activity and constant progression. Deep communication and a passion for creating forms the basis of a relationship between these two signs of the Zodiac. Their explosive characters may sometimes clash, but this will only affect the mood for a short while.
The Sagittarius is also very active and optimistic. Together, nothing can stop Aries and Sagittarius; they are a strong and mutually supportive team. Outdoor activities instill a feeling of freedom in both of these independent signs of the Zodiac.
Aries has joyfulness and an elaborate imagination in common with the bold Aquarius. Although Aries may be dominant in the relationship, the Aquarius accepts the ways of the Aries without any objection. They each love their freedom and give the other space to develop.
The Aries’ leading hand is very appealing to a Gemini. It gives them the direction they so sorely need. An Aries enjoys its dominance in the relationship and is attracted to the Gemini’s multifaceted nature. As they are both tireless explorers, there is a lot of potential for commonalities. Both zodiacal signs therefore complement one another excellently.
According to Greek mythology, King Athamas named his oldest son Phrixus as the successor to his throne. However, the King’s wife at that time, Phrixus’ stepmother, wanted her own son in his place. So she turned to deceit: She allowed the seeds for the following year to rot, causing a bad harvest. A manipulated oracle told the King that he could only avoid more bad harvests in the future if he were to sacrifice his son, Phrixus. Unhappily, he followed the oracle’s will, but at the moment of execution, a ram with a golden fleece sprang forth to save Phrixus. Upon the ram’s request to sacrifice itself in stead of the King’s son, they were able to avoid a famine. The ram was placed among the stars for his feat of heroism.
Aries is the first sign of the Zodiac and is in the constellation of the same name. It stands for the start of spring; a fresh start to the year. In the tropical zodiac, the sun transits this area of the zodiac between March 21st and April 20th each year. In the sidereal zodiac, the sun transits the constellation from April 18th to May 13th. The constellation can best be observed between October and January. The three brightest stars form a curved line, representing the ram’s horn. The brightest of these stars is called Hamal, “head of the sheep.”
